Encores were never the band's strong point, for whatever reason.

It got so bad that many heads would make their ways to the parking lot if they started in on Don't Ease or JBGoode or something equally as predictable.

Then there came a night in the 80's...I think it mighta been '82, someone help me out here, when at the Cap Ctr. fans started leaving during the encore like the Dodger "fans" did in Game 1 of the '88 World Series when Eck had 2 outs and the game looked over...and like the saps who missed Kirk Gibson's game-winning blast that followed, a bunch of heads at the Cap Center show missed the out-of-nowhere SECOND encore they decided to do, which was RIPPLE.

I was not there but the event took on a legendary quality and convinced many heads to NEVER leave during the encore again, no matter how lame or mailed-in it sounded.

as was I. completely unremarkable show and then "pow"! All I remember tune wise from that run at the Cap Center (more favorable memories of ACC Tournaments there.)

It was 1988 - the one and only time the boys played a request - and it came to them through the "make a wish" foundation

I knew someone would step up and identify! Thanks, fenario. I'll have to give it a listen.
